Pottery Lessons

We are now taking bookings for groups of up to 4 people for taster sessions and sets of five lessons...

The best way to book is to contact Mags directly via phone (077 222 12835) or e-mail at magscuttle@gmail.comIf you are looking for a specific date for one-off sessions, it is best to book a month or two in advance to avoid disappointment - especially if you would like a Saturday or evening lesson. Bookings for during the day (Tuesday-Friday) are more readily available.

'My daughter and I had so much fun in our pottery for beginners lesson today. Mags is wonderfully welcoming, extremely patient and a really excellent teacher!’ Thank you again for a wonderful lesson!'  (Rachel, Sept 2021)

Pottery lesson gift vouchers now available - the perfect gift!

e-mail magscuttle@gmail,com and we can send you a gift voucher for either a single session or a group of 5 lessons which the recipient can then book at times/dates to suit. We are quite busy but if you are flexible on times, we can usually squeeze you in within two weeks, with new courses (both day and evening times) starting throughout the year.

Covid-19 studio expectations updated April 2022. - continue to wear a mask.

Hand sanitiser and access to a hand-basin for washing hands will be provided at the start and end of each lesson.

Students (and teachers) will be expected to wear a face mask in line with Healthcare England advise. (disposable mask provided or bring your own). Due to the close proximity of teacher and student when working on the wheel, we would prefer it if you do not book a lesson if you do not wish to wear a mask. However, medically exempt students do not need a mask, and for deaf/hard of hearing students teachers will remove their masks.

Please do not attend if you or a member of your household are exhibiting high temperature, new cough or loss/change of sense of smell. Your Teacher will have tested negative for Covid in the last 7 days  (as long as tests are available.)

Lessons missed due to Covid-19 symptoms may be re-booked for a later date.

What to expect...

At our Kennington (Oxford) studio, lessons are exclusively in throwing on the wheel with a dedicated teacher (Mags) to support you in making up to 3 pots in every session. The studio has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere to let you enjoy the creative experience. All sessions are a maximum group size of four - with two teachers available so you will never be left without support when you need it.  Basic session price includes keeping and kiln firing of your favourite pot (including glaze). Or, come back later to glaze your own pots! (£7 for the extra session)

What you need....

Very short finger nails are definitely best but not essential.

Long hair should be tied back.

Rings and bracelets/watches should be removed (if possible).

Face mask.

Bring shoes that are easily cleaned - they may get splashed with wet clay!
